Reviews and Quotes

Scorpio Rising is featured as upcoming artist in the March 2008 issue of
The Global Music Star!
Once upon awhile, you happen upon a new sound.
Something that grabs the attention because it's so totally different and has you wanting
to hear more. When I stumbled upon Scorpio Rising, the first thing that grabbed my ears,
was the uncanny mixture of chords, mixed with Madame Scorpio's deep, sensual, charismatic sound.
The diversity works, and they have definitely found their niche! Great vocals and the unity of forceful
back-ups from their instruments makes them unstoppable. Add the cool dance moves of their
leading lady, this all attributes to their unique style!

Scorpio Rising is a three-member band based in **Austin**, **Texas**.
They feature "rockin millennium disco."*
* CD's up for review are the self-titled "Scorpio Rising" with five tracks, and the newest, "Vain Bastard" with ten songs.*

* The five tracks on the "Scorpio Rising" CD all highlight great
dance beats infused with a futuristic, electronic sound.
Aspects of Madame Scorpio's voice are reminiscent of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, and
she has a consistently melodic tone throughout. *

* Two of the tracks from the sample CD, "Hardcore" and "Get It Up,"are
also on Vain Bastard for good reason, as they are worth repeating.
In "Hardcore", the harmonizing perfectly meshes with a cool synthesized
background vocal, and "Get It Up" is an infectious tune that will definitely
cause dance movement in any listener.*

* The track "Millennium Disco" contains an unexpected and great rap riff
that works well with the song, and "Lonely" also stands out with introspective lyrics
and a slightly different sound than the rest.*

* Scorpio Rising's music mixes "70's funk, 80's dance, and 90's raves,"
and will grab you with its pinchers and not let go. It will resonate and
resound in your brain until you play it again.*
