Madame Scorpio was diagnosed with breast cancer on October 16, 2009.
She had a mastectomy and removal of two lymph nodes on November 17, 2009.
One of the lymph nodes was found positive and an additional surgery to remove all lymph node tissue
from the armpit was performed on December 4, 2009. All the arm pit tissue removed was found negative.
Scorpio Rising performed their last two shows for 2009 in October and are gearing up for their official SXSW showcase in March 2010.
Madame Scoprio is now undergoing chemo therapy to conquer any microscopic cancer left in her body.
Her first chemo treatment didn't go very well. Her white blood cells dipped down to .6,
leaving her body with nothing to fight infection and sent her to the hospital
with a 102 fever at 2AM Christmas morning. Her two day stay involved three different antibiotics
and a white cell booster shot to bring her back up to 7.11 white blood cells.
The 2nd round of chemo treatment went a lot better having received the white cell booster shot twenty four hours after getting treatment.
Although the treatment was going well, unfortunately a previous root canal that was preformed in September 2009 flared up.
After investigating with x-rays it was found that the dentist that performed the root canal didn't
do a very good job and didn't go far up enough into the tooth.
Checking with her oncologist, she was given permission to either redo the root canal or pull the tooth.
She chose to pull the tooth and move forward on more antibiotics to heal.
Madame Scorpio is currently gearing up to take on treatment number three.
Madame Scorpio does have insurance but the co-pays from all the budgeted treatments plus
unexpected surgeries and doctor visits have began to accumulate and add to
already existing day to day bills such as her mortgage on her home, regular house bills,
insurance on two vehicles, people and pet food, gas etc.....
She has three more chemo treatments to go plus at least two more surgeries involving plastic surgery
and the removal of a port-a-cath embedded under her skin to receive chemo.
There was talk of radiation but not yet on her schedule per her oncologist.
That is if all goes well.
We are asking for a small donation to help her out in her time of need.
Madame Scorpio is not one to ask for help, so we, her band mates are doing it for her.
We have set up a PayPal account going directly to her account to help her out.
Please click the donation button below and share whatever amount, $5 bucks anything will help.
